吉原家住宅 - Former Yoshihara Family Residence

The Yoshihara Family Residence is one of the most historic residences in the area. It served as residence
for successive village heads of Mukaishima-Nishimura till the end of the Edo era. The main house was
re-built in 1635. It is the oldest farmhouse in Yosemunezukuri-style (a square building) with a thatched roof. It has six rooms and a doma (earth floor space).
