The Ceremony of the Holy Flame is an event where participants seek protection from illness, peace in the home and prosperity in business through contact with the Holy Flame. Fire is set to the “Altar of the Holy Frame,” and as the ashes fall to the ground, the participants walk barefoot on the still burning embers, reciting a holy Buddhist sutra. It is held on January 8th at Saikokuji Temple.
