向島 - Mukaishima Island

Mukaishima (向島町, Mukaishima-chō) was amalgamated into the city of Onomichi in 2005 and has a population of around 17,000 people. It is very easily accessible by ferry (for cars or bicycles) or one can cross Onomichi Bridge  and be in Mukaishima in about five minutes. There are many nice things to see in Mukaishima, but particularly worth mentioning is the coast road around the island which is a wonderful cycle ride from Onomichi City and a distance of about 25km. It also has amazing sunsets, particularly nice near Innoshima Bridge which joins Mukaishima to Innoshima at its southern point.
