The very first banking building in Onomichi, made in the Taisho era, still stands today, and has been renovated and converted into the “Onomichi Historical Museum.” The museum holds the following:

• Artefacts and documents relating to Onomichi in the Middle Ages and its overall history;
  
• Documents showing the appearance of Onomichi in the Edo era;
• Documents about the vibrant economic life of Onomichi and its postal system in the modern era;
• Introduction to Onomichi's History video can be seen in the audio visual room.

Hours: 10:00〜18:00 (Admission until 17:30). It is closed every Tuesday (or the next day if Tuesday is a holiday) and the year-end and New Year period (Dec. 28th 〜 Jan. 3rd). Note: There are other, temporary closings throughout the year.
Admission Costs: General admission: ¥200; Junior high school students and younger: FREE;  Groups of 20 people and over: ¥160;  Double pass: ¥500 (Also gives access to the Onomichi Motion Picture Museum)
Access: On foot: 15 min. from JR Onomichi Station;  Bus: Get an east-bound bus from JR Onomichi Station and get off at the Nagae-guchi bus stop. Walk 2 minutes to reach the museum. Alternatively, ride the Skip Line's bus and get off at the Shiyakusyo-mae bus stop.  Note: The museum has no parking lot.
